Nurse Case Manager
Luisa qualified as a Children’s Nurse in 2005, initially working on a neonatal surgical unit in central Manchester caring for babies and families born with complex conditions often requiring long term hospital admissions. Her role consisted of care of the sick and ventilated neonate, care planning and assessment as part of the MDT and being an advocate for the families. Luisa was trained to senior nurse level whereby she became skilled in pre & post op care more often for babies with bowel or lung conditions, managing the ventilated neonate and blood analysis.
From here, Luisa moved to a regional paediatric emergency department where she spent 5 years as a senior nurse. The fast-paced environment enabled Luisa to develop skills in communication and adaptation alongside clinical skills in triage and critical/acute trauma. Caring for the family unit in an acutely stressful environment was the basis of her role and she adapted to managing patient flow whilst supporting staff.
For the last 9 years Luisa has run her own successful business within medical aesthetics alongside with her role as a mum to 3. As the sole director she has managed both the clinical and financial elements of the business, further improving her skills in organisation and communication.
Luisa commenced working with Rebuild 4 Life in spring 2023. She has in depth knowledge of child health, well-being and promotion, enabling Luisa to complete thorough and detailed assessment and recommendations for her clients. Luisa has a friendly and approachable nature, and quickly builds a good rapport with her clients. Luisa is also extremely professional and efficient and understands the fast paced demands of case management.
As a Nurse Prescriber, Luisa is able to prescribe and transcribe medication within her scope of practice. This enables her clients to be treated quickly and efficiently without unnecessary delay.
Luisa brings with her a good understanding of managing budgets and people alongside her nursing skills. She is skilled in all aspects of recruitment and care management, and is an organised, responsive and supportive case manager to her clients, their families and care teams. Luisa has a wealth of experience in supporting, nurturing and mentoring junior staff, and will be providing specialist training to Support Workers.
Luisa will be developing her experience in medico legal work over the coming 12 months whilst working alongside more experienced members of the team. Luisa has completed in house training and will be attending external training events later in the year.
